Kunlun Pass

Kunlun Pass locates in Kunlun Town, Binyang County, Nanning, which is 50 kilometers away from Nanning. According to legend, Kunlun Pass was built by Ma Yuan, the Fubo General in the Han Dynasty. The pass has a history of more than a thousand years. According to historical records, several large-scale battles happened at Kunlun Pass. It is regarded as one of the top ten famous passes in China, which has the important geographical location with rich resources. It is the National 4A Class Scenic Area. 
 
History of Kunlun Pass
Kunlun Pass has been a battleground for military strategists since the ancient times. The mountains here are dangerous and steep while the peaks connect with each other. There have been many battles in history happened here. 
 
In 819 of the Tang Dynasty, Pei Xingli established the pass with some stones. In 1035 of the Northern Song Dynasty, the guard tower was built on the pass. It was reinforced and rebuilt in following dynasties. There have been 9 battles in history happened here. The biggest and most tragic one among them is the Kunlun Pass Battle during the Anti-Japanese War.
 
Main attractions at Kunlun Pass
The main way to visit Kunlun Pass is to climb along the stone steps. The environment is surrounded by the green forests and the inscriptions by the celebrities. Peaceful archways can be seen everywhere. 
 
There is also a Kunlun Pass Battle Museum on the mountain, which displays many weapons and other equipment used in the ancient battles and wars. The museum is the only anti-Japanese themed museum in Guangxi, with a construction area of more than 3,500 square meters. It has a collection of more than 1,000 historic relics. 
 
The "V-shaped" structure on the outer wall of the museum is made of 86 tons of the marble, symbolizing victory. The obelisk array set up on the east side of the square in front of the museum records 220 surnames of about 3,400 soldiers, who were killed in the battle.
 
The Soldiers Cemetery was built on the mountain. There are 331 steps made of granite stone on the south side of the mountain. There is a three-door and four-pillar archway. The banners of the archway are inscribed by Du Yuming. There are also some inscriptions, which are inscribed by Li Zongren, Xu Yongchang, Zhang Fakui, Yu Hanmou and other celebrities.
