Hohhot is a famous tourism city located in the heart of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. As the capital city of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Hohhot boasts well-developed transportation facilities. A complete transportation network has been built, principally consisting of airways, railways, express ways and public buses.
Airway
Hohhot Baita (White Pagoda) Airport operates 70 scheduled international and domestic flights connecting the city to major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other cities. Located about 10km from the city center, tourists could get to the airport from city center by airport bus.
Train
Hohhot is connected to Beijing, Hailar, Baotou, Xian, Lanzhou, Yinchuan, Shanghai, and other domestic cities from Hohhot Railway Station. From Hohhot Railway station, tourists could also travel to Ulaanbaatar and Moscow by train.
Coach
Tai'an Coach Station is located next to the railway station. Tourists could take Long-distance buses departing to nearby cities including Baotou (2 hours), Datong (4 hours), Dongsheng(3 hours), and Dalian. There are also coaches operated to major domestic cities including Beijing (8-11 hours), Tianjin and so on. City Transportation
Hohhot has a sound public bus network consisting of more than 30 routes. Within the city tourists could easily travel to each place of the city by public bus. It’s also convenient to travel by taxi. The taxi of Tai'an charges 6 yuan for the first three kilometers and then charges CNY1.3 per km. Over 10 km per km charges 1.5 yuan.
