Airport
Zhangye Ganzhou Airport started its operation to the public from November, 2011. The airport is about 24km to the center of Zhangye City. Now, there are regular flights between Xian and Zhangye via Lanzhou every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The airport construction began in May 2010 to convert the air base to a dual-use airport, at an estimated cost of 313 million yuan. The airport has one 3,000-meter runway (class 4C), and a 4,126 square-meter terminal building. It is designed to handle 243,000 passengers and 1,700 tons of cargo annually by 2020.
Airport Shuttle Bus: 20 RMB /per person
Booking the air tickets at Power Building or Civil Aviation Gansu Airport Group, Zhangye ticketing center can get free shuttle bus to the airport with the itinerary.
Taxi
It takes about 0.5 - 1 hour from airport to city center by taxi. Normally the taxi fare varies around 50 Yuan.
Train
Up to now the most convenient way to travel to Zhangye City is still by train. Zhangye Railway Station is the important and key stop along the Lanzhou-Urumqi Railway Line. It has non-bullet trains which run daily to and from Shanghai, Xian and Lanzhou.
Zhangye railway station locates at the north east of Zhangye, Gansu, which is 6.4 km away from the city center. Zhangye railway station is a busy stop as well as a major freight depot.
Zhangye West Railway Station is a stop along Lanzhou-Xinjiang High Speed Railway. It mainly operates high speed trains to Urumqi, Turpan, Jiayuguan, Xining, and Lanzhou. It was put into use on December 26, 2014.
Long-distance Bus
Travel by long-distance bus to Zhangye is another choice to enter this inland city. The East Long-distance Bus Station, located at the East Circle City Road, has buses running to Wuwei, Lanzhou and Yinchuan. Passengers can also take buses from the South Long-distance Bus Station in Zhangye to Dunhuang, Jiayuguan, Lanzhou, Matisi and Xining.
