Day 1 Xining

Qinghai Lake
Located 3200 meters above sea level, the Qinghai Lake is the largest inland and salt water lake in China. The lake has different scenery in four seasons and has become a popular destination for biking and bird watching.

Day 3 Xining – Zhangye (by automobile)

Menyuan Rape Flower Field
Covering land more than 4, 000km², rape flower field in Menyuan has been considered one of the greatest wonders on plateau in Northwest China. Its blooming scenery is especially spectecular but short - only 2 weeks from July 10 to 25. Try to visit it at mid of July for yellow would never look so good.

Day 4 Zhangye – Jiayuguan (by automobile)

Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park
Take a 1.5-hour car ride to the Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park. You will admire the Danxia Landform, which is perfectly combined with multi-colored mountains, valleys, hills, and cliffs. Gazing out at the vast area of such landform, you will be marveled by the craftsmanship of Mother Nature.

Day 5 Jiayuguan – Dunhuang (by automobile)

The Jiayuguan Pass, the western end of the Great Wall, is known as the most strategic point along the ancient Silk Road.

Day 6 Dunhuang

Yadan National Geological Park, Yumenguan Pass
Yadan National Geological Park is famous for its unique wind-erosion landform. You will see astonishing red elonganated rock ridges and their dark shadows paving down in deep narrow valleys.
Yumenguan Pass is the west terminal of the Great Wall built in Han Dynasty 2,100 years ago from now. "Yumen" suggests "transit jade through the gateway" and it served as an important entry to China.

Day 7 Dunhuang

Mogao Grottoes , Crescent Moon Lake & Singing Sand Dunes
The Mogao Grottoes (UNESCO) is one of the world's most important sites of ancient Buddhist Culture. The treasure house contains hundreds of sandstone caves holding more than 2,000 statues and 45,000 brilliantly bright paintings of Buddha and Chinese mythological figures.
The Crescent Moon Lake & Singing Sand Dunes are famous attractions in Dunhuang. From a distance make sure to listen carefully for the whistling tunes among the sand dunes. If you are feeling adventurous, take an optional camel ride (on your own expense).

Day 8 Dunhuang
