Transportation in Chengde Travel

Air

 

Since Chengde is so close to Beijing, which sits about 180 kilometers (112 miles) from Beijing Capital International Airport, there is only a small-scale airport in the south of the Chengde city. Only non-scheduled chartered flights operate between the two cities from time to time. Therefore, you can take the long-distance bus from Chengde bus station to Beijing and take a plane from Beijing Capital International Airport in accordance with your needs. The journey will take about 3 and 4 hours to Beijing

 

Railway Stations

 

Chengde Railway Station

Railway Station lies on Wulie Lu in the southeast of the city. Routes include Jingcheng (rails liking Beijing), Shicheng (rails liking Shijiazhuang), Shencheng (rails liking Shenyang) and Chenglong (rails liking Longhua County) railways convergeon this station. There are now trains to Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Shenyang, Baotou, Dandong, Ulanhot, Chifeng, Tongliao and Jinzhou available from the railway station.

 

The city is 230 kilometers (143 miles) from Beijing, so you can use Beijing as a transfer station. Tourists can take trains from Beijing to destinations all over China with tickets purchased from Chengde Railway Station as it has linked to the ticket network for the main stations in Beijing.

 

The trains from Beijing to Chengde takes about 5-7 hours. Ticket fare is around CNY130 for a soft sleeper, CNY90 for a hard sleeper, and CNY40 for a hard seat.

 

Long-distance Bus

 

The highway links of Chengde are very convenient, which include the Jingcheng Tourist Highway, Weicheng Highway (Weichang County to Chengde) and three national highways linking Chengde with Beijing, Tianjin, Liaoning, and Inner Mongolia, etc. It will take you 3.5 hours to travel from Beijing to the city via the Jingcheng Tourist Highway.

 

There are three long-distance buses that run to nearby cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, and Zhangjiakou daily. Mini buses run every 30 minutes from 06:00 to 16:00 between Chengde Long-distance Bus Station and Beijing Xizhimen Long-distance Station daily.

 

In addition, regular bus services link every county of the city departing from Western Bus Station and Northern Bus Station daily Some destinations from the Western Bus Station: Weichang County, Longhua County, Fengning, Luanping County, depart every 15 minutes.

Destinations from the Northern Bus Station include Pingquan County, Chifeng, Chengde County (Xiabancheng Town), and depart every 15 minutes.

 

City Bus

 

This city is not big, so you can easily get to every corner of the city. Most bus ticket fees start at CNY1 but are never more than CNY5; many of the buses are self-service and charge CNY 1 for one journey.

Bus Nos. 1, 2, 5, 7, 11, 15 will take you to the Railway Station.

Bus Nos. 5, 6, 10, 11, 15 will take you to the Mountain Resort.

 

Taxi

 

Taking taxi is a convenient way to travel in Chengde and its suburb. The standard taxi fare is CNY6 for the first 2 kilometers (1.2 miles). It costs CNY1.4 and CNY1.8 per additional kilometer (0.6 mile) respectively for cars with the emission volume lower and higher than 1.5 liters (0.4 gallon). In addition, each ride charges CNY1 fuel fee.
