Jinan City Museum

Jinan City Museum is located in Lixia District. It is a large-scale local comprehensive museum in Shandong Province. The museum was built in December 1958 inside the Baotu Spring Park. In 1997, the new museum was officially put into use. Since 2008, Jinan City Museum has been open to the public free of charge. In 2009, it was rated as a National Secondary Museum and the Shandong Patriotism Education Base. In 2012, Jinan City Museum was successfully selected as one of the "Top Ten Museums" in Shandong Province.
 
Introduction of Jinan City Museum
 
Jinan City Museum covers an area of 8,500 square meters, with a building area of 6,300 square meters, including an exhibition area of 2,400 square meters. The museum is mainly responsible for the collection and storage of the movable cultural relics, display, publicity and scientific research in Jinan. 
 
Jinan City Museum has 8 exhibition halls. There are two floors and four exhibition halls on the first floor, which are the "Pictures of Birds", "Calligraphy and Painting", "Porcelain" and "Inkstone". There are four exhibition halls on the second floor. The exhibition halls are connected to each other, displaying some Buddha statues and small collections.
 
There are more than 20,000 cultural relics of various types and more than 2,000 rare books in the museum, including many rare exhibits. For example, the Neolithic ivory comb with a swirling pattern, the bronze with the golden pattern of Shang Dynasty, the bronze bowl of the Spring and Autumn Period, the jade spoon of Warring States and the acrobatic pottery excavated from the early Western Han Dynasty are all very rare in China. In addition, the collection of paintings and calligraphy works are very exquisite, most of which are from Ming and Qing dynasties. The works are from some famous masters, such as Ren Bonian, Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Fu Baoshi, and Liu Haisu.
 
The collections are mainly derived from the archaeological excavations, national allocations, donations from social groups and people from various fields, and etc.
 
The exquisite exhibitions enable people to appreciate the precious cultural relics of Jinan. It has become an important window to promote Jinan's history and culture.
