On Jan 6, the exhibition "Red Memories Engraved in Thangka: The Innovative Art of Langkajie Thangka" opened at the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum.
As a national intangible cultural heritage (ICH) item, Langkajie Thangka employs a “red culture + ICH” approach. The display traces the origins of the 17th‑century Langkajie School and presents core works such as “The Red Army’s Long March in Luhuo” and the “Luhuo Earthquake Relief” series, which portray the bond between the military and civilians as well as national recovery endeavors.
Innovative sections integrate thangka art with Luhuo folk songs and local landscapes. An academic forum held on the opening day further promoted exchange on ICH preservation.
