A special exhibition celebrating the 980th birth anniversary of Huang Tingjian, a renowned poet and calligrapher of the Northern Song Dynasty, has opened at the Jiangxi Provincial Museum.
As the largest exhibition of Huang Tingjian's calligraphy works on the Chinese mainland - featuring 85 cultural relics including 14 first-class treasures - it showcases his masterpieces such as Ode to the Huanhua Stream (cursive script) and Inscription on the Qingyi River (running script), covering a full range of his calligraphic styles.
Visitors can immerse themselves in the elegance of the Song Dynasty through multimedia interactions, poetry recitals, and fragrance appreciation. On-site activities such as DIY intangible cultural heritage (ICH) incense cards and poetry quizzes inspired by Huang Tingjian also revive the literati lifestyle of the Northern Song era.
Co-hosted by Jiangxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Palace Museum, the exhibition runs until March 1, 2026. It offers international travelers an excellent opportunity to explore the profound charm of ancient Chinese literature and calligraphy.
