China has solidified its position as a premier global travel destination, according to a recent report by the U.S. website Travel And Tour World. In 2025, the country recorded over 150 million entries, representing a 17% year-on-year increase. This surge in inbound tourism is driven by optimized visa-free policies, which now extend to 50 countries, significantly lowering the barrier for international visitors. These strategic openings have simplified travel logistics, allowing for more “spontaneous” trips to iconic regions across the nation.

The report also highlights China’s digital innovation as a key factor in reshaping the traveler experience. Last year, international visitors spent over 80 billion yuan via mobile payment platforms, which now seamlessly support international bank cards. This “digital revolution” ensures a frictionless journey, eliminating the need for complex currency exchanges. Furthermore, the integration of culture and technology—such as immersive exhibitions and sports tourism packages—has significantly boosted the appeal of inbound tourism. By blending its rich historical heritage with modern convenience, China continues to lead the global tourism recovery, offering a seamless and enriching experience for travelers worldwide.
