With the 2026 Asian Beach Games approaching this April, Sanya is entering its final stage of preparations with 1,790 confirmed athletes from 45 countries and regions. Scheduled to run from April 22 to 30, the multisport event will feature 62 events across 14 disciplines, including beach handball, dragon boat racing, and beach volleyball. This grand gathering in Hainan Province is set to be a major highlight for inbound tourism, bringing together top delegations from Thailand, the Philippines, India, and Hong Kong, China, to compete in one of Asia’s most anticipated coastal sports festivals.

The competition is set against the stunning backdrop of Sanya’s world-renowned coastline, where azure waters and expansive sandy beaches provide a natural arena for elite sports. Visitors to the Games can enjoy high-energy events like dragon boat racing and beach volleyball while experiencing the relaxed, sun-drenched atmosphere of China's premier seaside destination. This unique combination of professional athletics and tropical leisure is expected to attract a significant number of international spectators, further boosting the city’s reputation for inbound tourism and coastal hospitality.

To ensure a seamless experience for both athletes and guests, operational teams at all venues have completed extensive training and test events. The overall competition schedule has been optimized to help media and spectators better plan their itineraries. As Sanya enters the final countdown, the city is ready to showcase its vibrant “blue sea” culture and high-quality competition environment. This spring, the Asian Beach Games will offer a splendid celebration of sportsmanship amid the natural splendor of one of Asia’s most beloved beach destinations.
