Red Earth, Jinxiu Garden, Damakan, Luoxia Valley

Today, hit the road from Kunming to Dongchuan. Dongchuan is famous for its unique Red Earth, that you'll be amazed at a land with dazzling color of reddish brown. The best season for photograph is from May to June and from September to December, when the land reveals itself with reds and browns, and other various strong colors.

Then, discover natural beauty at Jinxiu Garden and Damakan.

End today's visit over the sunset at Luoxia Valley.

 

Overnight at Hongtu Impression Hotel in Dongchuan

Jinxiu Garden, Moon Land, Jinji Hill (Golden Rooster Hill), Lingyi Temple   

Rise early and tread towards Jinxiu Garden, wait for the first sunray hit the mountain tops.

Then visit the Moon Land, the Jinji Hill (Golden Rooster Hill) and the Lingyi Temple.   

Later, take a car ride to Luoping, a Mecca for photographers, who flock to this small county every early spring (February & March) to capture the magnificent sea of the blooming rapeseed flowers.

Luositian Farms at Niujie, Jiulong Waterfall (Nine Dragon Waterfall)

Today, take a visit to the Luositian Farms at Niujie. The fields here at Snail Farms are carved out of a shallow valley with gentle slopes. As you follow the road on the opposite slope and view them from an increasingly higher viewpoint, you'll find the flowers grown in circular rings following the contours of the slopes and the fields, like the rings of a snail's shell.

Then, head to Jiulong Waterfall (Nine Dragon Waterfall), a ten-tier waterfall listed as one of China's biggest and most beautiful waterfalls.

Afterwards, take a car ride to Puzhehei, a splendid county which is famous for its Karst landscape and inhabited by Miao, Yao, Yi, Bai and Zhuang Minorities.

Enjoy a full-day tour to explore Puzhehei

In the morning, take a guided bike tour for a scenic ride. Puzhehei turns out to be Karst terrain formations since it’s endowed with separate small hills, connecting lakes, karst caves and valleys.

Then, take a boat ride and embrace Puzhehei with its best scenery.

Lengdun Bazaar

Today, take a car ride to Yuanyang. Yuanyang is well-known for its spectacular terrace paddies, the masterpieces created by generations of the Hani people, the largest minority group in Yuanyang County of Honghe Prefecture. Midway you'll visit Lengdun Bazaar for the exotic ethnic minority culture.

In Jingkou Hani Ethnic Village, you'll appreciate the best-preserved folk culture of Yuanyang.
Explore the terraced rice paddies in Bada and Duoyishu. They are considered to be the best places to take pictures of the breathtaking landscapes in Yuanyang.
Take a visit to the Laohuzui (Tiger-Mouth Village), which you will enjoy the stunning view of a vast area of terraced fields.

The Confucius Temple in Jianshui is the third largest one in China (the largest is in Qufu, Shandong Province and the second largest is in Beijing) and is an important cultural relic in Yunnan.
Pay a visit to Zhu Family’s Garden, a group of traditional residences, which enjoys a high reputation as “Grand View Garden in southern Yunnan”.

The Stone Forest (UNESCO) is a typical Karst landscape formed some 270 million years ago. This geological wonder consists of limestone cliffs and peaks that have weathered into various shapes since their formation beneath the sea.
