Anshun City is situated to the east of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau in the mid-western part of Guizhou Province. Anshun has been the collection and distribution center for commercial goods since ancient times. From Guiyang, which is the capital city of Guizhou Province, it takes about 1 hour by train to get to Anshun.

The climate of Anshun belongs to subtropical monsoon climate zone, which is characterized by cold, humid winter and cool summer. The weather there is very humid because rain comes nearly half a year. It enjoys four distinctive seasons. The annual temperature is 14ºC, with an upper limit of 34ºC at the height of summer, and a coldest point of – 7.4ºC in winter. The best seasons to visit Anshun are from March to May and from September to November.
