A second intercity railway to link Beijing and Tianjin, with a route incorporating a stop in Hebei Province will be built this year. The railway is aiming to forge the one-hour intercity traffic circle around Beijing, the capital city of China.

The first intercity trains started transporting passengers between the Beijing and Tianjin in 2008, while they do not fully satisfy the needs as tickets are hard to get at rush hours. It mainly concentrates on the transporting passengers. The railway is experimental in a degree.

The new intercity railway under design will mix passenger transport and freight transport together. It will reduce transportation cost and integrate the region’s development. On account of accelerating the exchange of talents, Beijing and the areas surrounding are going to meet a better chance for development.
