June 8 2013 was China's Eighth National Cultural Heritage Day. The Forbidden City held a celebration ceremony and invited a famous Chinese musician Gao Peifen to play traditional Chinese instrument, Guqin (a seven-stringed plucked instrument).

Guqin is listed as a Human Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2003. There are about 30 Guqins displayed in the Palace Museum in Beijing. Guqin is a kind of China’s ancient instrument with a history of more than 4,000 years. The arched wood surface of Guqin represents heaven, and its flat bottom represents earth.
