On April 18, 2026, the global lifestyle retailer MINISO officially launched two innovative store formats—MINISO SPACE and MINISO LAND—at the cdf Sanya International Duty Free City in Hainan Province. This landmark opening marks the brand’s first “dual flagship” presence in the Hainan Free Trade Port, strategically timed to coincide with the surge in visitors for the upcoming 2026 Asian Beach Games. By integrating immersive IP-themed environments with professional retail, these new locations aim to redefine the shopping experience for inbound tourism, transforming a traditional duty-free visit into a vibrant amusement park journey for international travelers.

The two stores, covering an average area of 1,200 square meters, showcase MINISO’s “Super Store” strategy by offering a massive portfolio of over 8,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs). Visitors to Sanya can explore dedicated zones featuring world-renowned IPs such as Disney, Sanrio, and Chiikawa, alongside MINISO’s proprietary characters like YOYO and DunDUN Chicken. For those participating in inbound tourism, the MINISO SPACE features a narrative flow of “Exhibition-Experience-Retail,” while the MINISO LAND boasts a striking “giant ship” exterior design. This combination of high-visual appeal and localized IP products has quickly established the site as a premier social and cultural landmark within the Haitang Bay commercial district.

The successful debut of these flagship stores underscores Sanya’s growing appeal as a global hub for the experience economy and high-end tourism consumption. By collaborating with China Duty Free Group (CDFG), MINISO is accelerating its expansion into the global travel retail market, leveraging Sanya’s unique status as a tropical holiday destination to connect with a diverse international audience. As the city continues to optimize its services for global guests, such innovative retail spaces play a crucial role in boosting the vitality of inbound tourism. This strategic layout not only upgrades the local consumption landscape but also solidifies Hainan’s position as a world-class tourism and shopping destination.
