Marine Express Shanghai-Putuo Mountain Launched

Marine Express from Shanghai to Putuo Mountain will be launched on 5 December, shortening the travelling time between the two places to 2 hours and 45 minutes.

 

The starting station of the marine express situates in Jinshanwei, 72 km from urban Shanghai. People from Shanghai to Putuo Mountain is able to take a high speed rail from Shanghai South Railway Station to Jinshanwei Station for half an hour, and then take the marine express to Putuo Mountain.

 

According to the sailing schedule, the express sets sail everyday at 08:45, and arrives at Putuo Mountain 11:30; the backward express sets sail at 13:45, and arrives in Jinshanwei at 16:00.

 

Together with Mt. Wutai in Shanxi, Mt. Emei in Sichuan, and Mt.Jiuhua in Anhui, Putuo Mountain is one of the four sacred mountains of Chinese Buddhism. It is noted for its rough terrain, exquisite landscape, as well as mysterious temples, and huge inscriptions carved on stones.
