The 28th Qingdao International Beer Festival is scheduled to be held in East China's coastal city of Qingdao between Jul.20 and Aug.26, local officials announced yesterday. To meet needs of tourists at home and abroad, this year’s festival is extended to 38 days, which is the longest duration in history.

As the largest beer festival in Asia, this year’s event attracts about 200 international breweries from Germany, the United States, Denmark and Britain as well as China. More than 1,300 types of beer will be presented during the festival. About 10,000 people are expected to gather to drink a range of beers at the festival.

The annual event started back in 1991 as the 100th birthday celebration of Qingdao - a city known for its German-style beer. The festival will feature various activities including beer tasting, exhibition of local folk customs, evening entertainment, carnival events, and concluded with a themed final ceremony.
