2017 New Classic Arts Festival Comes down to Beijing

Along with rising of the curtain for Swan Lake, the world – renowned ballet performed by the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater, the ongoing 2017 New Classic Arts Festival was inaugurated at Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center on Oct 20.

 

This arts festival will bring nearly 100 audiovisual feasts to Beijing. Musicals, dances and concerts, among other performances by art troupes from 11 countries, including Russia, the United States, Denmark, France and Finland, are being staged at Tianqiao Performing Arts Center through December.

 

Highlights will include but not limited to:

YL Male Voice Choir Beijing Concert marking the centennial of Finnish independence on Nov 11, featuring works from Jean Sibelius, Juuso Vanonen and Veljo Tormis;

Air Play, a circus-style show presented by Acrobuffos from USA on Nov 18;

Kostroma, a folklore-inspired ballet carried out by the Russian National Ballet on Nov 24;

Pulitzer Drama Prize awarded One – act play: Cantonese drama ‘Night Mother performed by Michelle and Perry Chiu on Nov 24 and 25;

Popular mime, Teatro Delusio, will be brought down to the stage by German Familie Flöz over Dec 21-24;

The record-breaking winner of twelve Tony awards Broadway musical, The Producers, over Dec 12 – 26;

Winner of four Tony awards including Best Musical, Jersey Boys, will be staged from Dec 30 2017 - Jan 07 2018.
