We chose the Jinshanling because it is said that the view is the best among all parts of the Great Wall in Beijing, although it takes more time to get there. After our visit, I think Jinshanling is quite worthy of a visit. I lived in Beijing, and have been other parts of the Great Wall, including Badaling, Juyongguan and Mutianyu. It turned out that the Jinshanling owns the most amazing scenery.
I booked a full-day service of a mini-van with CITS to Jinshanling, which made our trip more flexible. The driver was professional and polite, and the van was in good condition.
We leaved very early in the morning and it took a 2.5-hour car ride from downtown to Jinshanling Great Wall. My friend and I had a pleasant hiking for about 3 hours on the Wall. The views were spectacular. The most important thing was that there was no crowd. And the return trip was almost 3.5 hour due to the bad traffic.
If you only have one chance to visit the Great Wall in China, the Jinshanling is your best choice.

This was one of the best organised trips we have been on, the guides were exceptionally good, offering clear insights into the customs and places we visited. They really looked after us waiting patiently until we had cleared security before turning to go off to their next appointment. We cannot commend them to highly especially Michael in Beijing, who had very good sense of humour even when we were making friendly insults to each other and getting lost. The extra visits he organised to see the Olympic park, Mr Lui and the rickshaw ride was special. We will certainly use them again when we next visit China.
