According to the local government, the 23nd China Fishing Season Festival is scheduled to be held in Xiangshan County, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province in September. The annual festival marks the start of a new fishing season.
In September, a grand ceremony worshipping the sea goddess Mazu will be held, in hope for the harvest during the upcoming fishing season. Thousands of fishing boats, accompanied by thunderous gong and drum beats, will set sail from the Shipu fishery port.
Also, the festival will hold a series of online events to further promote the local tourism and fishery resources. A variety of events, such as sea fishing activities and concerts have already launched in Xiangshan County earlier this month. The festival has the unique marine celebrations in China, integrating culture, tourism, and economic and trade activities, with the rich fishing town and coastal tourism features.
