According to the China Railway Beijing Group Co. Ltd., the high-speed railway line connecting Beijing, and Zhangjiakou in north China's Hebei Province starts test runs from December 2nd.

During the test runs, high-speed railway trains run at 385 kph and bullet trains run at 350 kph. Beijing-Zhangjiakou's high-speed railway is 174 kilometers long, including 70.5 kilometers in Beijing and 103.5 kilometers in Hebei Province, with a maximum designed speed of 350 kph.

The railway line is a major project for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. It is expected to be put into operation by the end of 2019, and will shortly cut the travel time between Beijing and Shijiazhaung from more than two hours to one hour.

Previously, Zhangjiakou is a time-honored city north of the Great Wall inhabited by many ethnic minorities. It is honored to co-host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games with Beijing. By now, many ski resorts have been opened in Chongli County and all skiing facilities are well improved.
