The works of Niki de Saint Phalle (1930-2002), are currently being shown in Beijing for the first time. Niki de Saint Phalle is a legendary French-born and American-raised artist, who is widely recognized for her monumental sculptures. She was one of the few women artists well-known for the monumental sculpture, and her commitments.

Saint Phalle’s most comprehensive work was the Tarot Garden, a large sculpture garden containing numerous works ranging up to house-sized creations. Her idiosyncratic style has been called "outsider art". Though she had no formal training in art, he was associated freely with many other contemporary artists, writers, and composers. Many of Saint Phalle's sculptures are very large and are exhibited in some public places in America.

The former fashion model and housewife found her true identity in teaching herself to paint and to sculpt. Her works have won the heart of people of different cultural backgrounds and ages, not only for their explosive color schemes and rich emotions, but also because she shares with them a take on life with courage and curiosity.
