On November 7, the 2020 Beijing Grand Canal Cultural Festival opens. During the festival, eight major sections and 39 themed activities will be launched online and offline. The festival will last until November 15.
The Grand Canal was built in Hangou during the Spring and Autumn Period. It has a history of more than 2,500 years since it was excavated. It is the oldest ancient canal in the world, with the longest flowing distance, and the largest scale. The festival hopes to tell the story of the canal, so that more people can understand this profound canal, and learn more about the history and cultures.
During the 2020 Beijing Grand Canal Cultural Festival, the activities include the literary and artistic creation, public participation, sports competition, intangible cultural heritage activities, special exhibitions, online displays, academic lectures and other activities.
