Yi people celebrated Torch Festival

On July 20, 2014, Yi ethnic group celebrated the Torch Festival in Xichang city, Sichuan province by singing and dancing.

 

 

The festival, which usually falls on June 24 of the lunar calendar, is the biggest festival of Yi people. During the festival, they will hold wrestling and bullfighting activities in the village. Main activities of the torch festival are at night. People either light the torches to pray for a good harvest or light the bonfire to hold a song and dance party.
