The 12th Yongding River Culture Festival opened on August 12th, in Beijing’s Mentougou District.

The festival is co-hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Mentougou District Committee and Mentougou District Culture Commission.

 

On the opening ceremony of the festival, The Yongding River, a large scale human geography document, was released. This document is permanently collected by both Capital Museum and Yongding River Culture Museum and will be broadcasted in a rolling manner on BTV and various platforms on the Internet.

 

During the Culture Festival, a series of cultural activities will be released to further excavate the cultural connotation of the Yongding River and display its unique cultural charm. The activities include theme performance on the opening ceremony, broadcast of the document The Yongding River, a stage play, a forum, an action of convergence media, a research report and a photo exhibition.

 

The 747-kilometer-long Yongding River flows through Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Beijing and Tianjin, with the area of 47,000 square kilometers. As the mother river of Beijing, it passes through over 100 kilometers within Mentougou District and has formed six cultures - the ancient village and road culture, civil and folk culture, red history culture, culture of coal industry in western Beijing, religion and temple culture and ecological landscape culture.
