Over 300 pieces of precious jade objects, kept through China's imperial times and representing the nation's time-honored jade craftsmanship, are now on display in Beijing Shenyu Museum. The exhibition is free to the public through Feb 8.
The more than three hundred of precious jade collection items range from different dynasties. Visitors will draw an inspiration and excitation from these collections. Jade has been used in virtually all periods of Chinese history and generally accords with the style of decorative art characteristic of each period. The Chinese regarded carved-jade objects as intrinsically valuable, and they metaphorically equated jade with human virtues because of its hardness, durability, and moral beauty.
Beijing Shenyu Art Center, as one part of Shenyu Museum's cultural business, also starts business from January. The center plans to build ten branches in different province or cities in China this year. Shenyu Museum will also launch China Shenyu Exhibition in 2013 to spread jade culture throughout the country.
