Beijing will apply a 72-hour visa free policy in the next year on January 1 for foreign tourists from 45 countries. Foreign visitors with valid visas and the air ticket to the third country can apply for 72-hour visa free entry in Beijing.

The 45 visa-free countries include 24 countries in European Schengen Area, 7 other European countries, 6 countries in America, 6 Asian countries, Australia and New Zealand.

The policy is aimed at making Beijing more accessible to the world and is expected to attract more overseas travelers. However, the 72-hour visa free policy is restricted in Beijing. Visitors without a visa will not be allowed to travel outside the capital once they arrive.
