2019 Shanghai Book Fair opens to public

On August 14, 2019 Shanghai Book Fair was officially opened to public. This year is the 16th anniversary of the Book Fair. More than 160,000 books from over 500 publishing houses nationwide attended the exhibition.

 

The activities including reading, book signing, writers discussion, and lectures will be holding at a main venue and over 100 sub-venues from August 14 to 20. The main venue has an exhibition area of 23,000 square meters at the Shanghai Exhibition Center, and most of the sub-venues are scattered in cities inside the Yangtze River Delta region.

 

Over the week, there will be over 1270 reading activities and over 500 new books making their first appearance to public. Readers are able to get the information about these activities online on their mobile phones by a mini program supported by WeChat platform. The mini program also supports online reading and audio books.

 

According to Xu Jiong, head of the municipal press and publication bureau, Shanghai is looking forward to accelerate the transformation of Shanghai Book Fair in this digital age.
