The Hong Kong section of Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL) has entered a trial operation on April 1, with multiple trips between Guangzhou South, Shenzhen North, Futian and West Kowloon Station each day, according to CCTV.

The Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL), also known as “Guangshen'gang XRL”, is a high-speed railway line to be inaugurated in phases between 2011 and 2018, planning to connect Beijing and Hong Kong (Kowloon) via Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

After the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link starts running, Hong Kong will be connected to a national high-speed rail network of 25,000 kilometers. By then, it takes only 14 minutes from Hong Kong to Futian, 23 minutes to Shenzhen North, and 48 minutes to Guangzhou South.

The 143 km rail line has been divided into two sections, the Guangzhou–Shenzhen section with six stations, and the Hong Kong section with one station. The Guangzhou–Shenzhen section of Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong Express Rail Link starts at Guangzhou South Railway Station and ends at Shenzhen Futian Railway Station, with stops at Qingsheng, Humen in Dongguan, Guangmingcheng and Shenzhen North, with a length of 116 km and a speed of 350 km / h. It then moves south into Hong Kong where it will arrive at West Kowloon Terminus in Kowloon.
