Sichuan province is planning tourism routes to see wild pandas, announced by the Tourism Development Commission of Sichuan province recently.

It's extremely rare to see a giant panda in the wild. Currently, the best places to observe the animal are several panda breeding centers in Sichuan. The routes will give people a better chance of seeing the pandas in its natural habitat. The three routes link Chengdu with Mianyang, Ya'an and Aba separately.

There were 1,864 wild and 375 captive giant pandas in China at the end of 2013, according to the fourth national survey of pandas, released in 2015. A total of 1,387 wild giant pandas lived in Sichuan, while others were found in Shaanxi and Gansu provinces.
