People of Miao Ethnic Group celebrate their traditional New Year Festival in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture, Guizhou Province.

Miao’s New Year is the most important festival in the ethnic group’s culture and it is usually celebrated in October or November. However, there is no accurate time of the New Year due to long way and rugged mountains between Miao villages.

During the festival, Miao people will prepare a feast for all the villagers. The feast and following activities are jointly called “Da Tong Nian” in Chinese. There are also some horse-riding and rooster fighting races which will bring happiness to the local area.
