A second duty-free shop of Hainan opened on Wednesday inside the Haikou Meilan International Airport, with an aim of boosting the country’s luxury goods consumption.

The shop is the second duty-free shop after the first trial one in Hainan’s popular tourist resort of Sanya.

It allows tourists and locals in Hainan to enjoy duty exemptions and tax refunds on certain imported products worth no more than 800 U.S. dollars before flying to other airports in China. Thus, consumers usually can save 10 to 35 percent compared with the costs on same goods in other places

The new duty free store in Haikou is divided into two sections selling different categories of products including food, clothes and cosmetics.
