The Green Book of China's Tourism was published by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, on Jan 17, 2017. The book is about tourism development analysis and forecast during the year of 2016-2017.

The book pointed out that China's inbound tourism market is expected to enjoy a 4% growth in 2016 over the previous year, and tourism foreign exchange is poised to see a 5% growth.

72-hour/144-hour Visa-free policy, tourist tax refund scheme, and Chinese Yuan depreciation have increased domestic tourism product's competitiveness, the book points out. Belt and Road Initiative and domestic tourism promotion have also played a positive role.

Compared with inbound tourism, China's outbound tourism has slowed down in growth rate since 2015, according to the book. The number of outbound tourists grew by 9% in 2015. Previously, the figure was above 10%.
