The railway line links 2 world-renowned tourist destinations at a distance of 700km, and cuts the current travel time by about 7 hours to just 4 hours. The railway is going to play a vital role in enhancing contact between major destinations in Southwestern and Northwestern China, such as the cities of Chengdu, Chongqing and Xi’an.

Comparing with airfare from Xi’an to Chengdu, the train ticket price is quite reasonable: 397 yuan for a first-class seat and 263 yuan for a second-class seat.
