On November 5, 2025, the 43rd UNESCO General Conference resolved to designate March 21 (the Vernal Equinox) as International Taijiquan Day — the first UN international day for a martial art. This officially recognizes Taijiquan’s global value and the international influence of Chinese traditional culture.
Originating from Chenjiagou Village, Wen County, Henan Province, Taijiquan blends traditional Chinese health concepts, yin-yang philosophy, and kinesthetic wisdom. It supports physical and mental wellness across ages, embodies "harmony between humans and nature," and has been practiced by hundreds of millions in over 180 countries. Inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2020, it serves as a bridge for intercultural exchange.
As its birthplace, Jiaozuo City promotes Taijiquan via international events and inheritance frameworks, elevating it from a regional cultural symbol to a globally recognized wellness brand.
