The reconstruction of Tongmai suspension bridge that earlier collapsed in the Tibet Autonomous Region is underway, and the bridge will likely to put into use next month.

Located on the Sichuan-Tibet highway, Tongmai suspension bridge connects Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, and Lhasa, capital of Tibet. It usually takes drivers six hours to reach Lhasa from Chengdu using the Sichuan-Tibet highway. Without the bridge, drivers have to travel two more days with an additional 700 kilometers.
