On May 17th, Shenzhen Donghai Airlines announced that it will open a direct flight between Wanzhou, a district in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, and the Thai resort city of Pattaya. The flight will open on May 31 according to local authorities. It is the first international airline in Wanzhou District.

From May 31st, this direct flight will depart from Wanzhou Wuqiao Airport at 11:00 a.m. Beijing time, and arrive in Pattaya at 1:45 p.m. local time. The flight will take about three hours and 40 minutes. The service will be operated by Boeing 737-800 aircraft of Shenzhen Donghai Airlines every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

This new air route linking Chongqing and Pattaya will facilitate the tourism between the two cities. Widely acknowledged as the important industrial and economic center in Chongqing, Wanzhou is a popular destination for its hilly slopes, plentiful rivers, night views and spicy food. Wanzhou District will open the “air door” to attract more visitors around the world. “More international flights to Japan and South Korea will be open in the future,” said by Wan Qinghua, an official with the Wanzhou Wuqiao Airport.
