Lying in Jiuzhaigou County of the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, Jiuzhaigou Valley and Hunglong have been popular destinations among visitors all over the world. The booming tourist industry promotes the development of transportation network in Jiuzhaigou. Most visitors will choose Chengdu as the transfer city and then go to Jiuzhaigou.
The Jiuhuang airport is located 88km away from Jiuzhaigou and 43km from Huanglong. With an elevation of 3448m, it is one of China’s three plateau airports. Jiuhuang airport operates many direct flights there from a number of major cities such as Chengdu, Chongqing, Kunming, Xian and Beijing, with the most regular being from Chengdu which is only a 45 minute flight away.
Visitors who want to take train to Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong should arrive in Chengdu first and then transfer to long distance bus. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Xian, Lanzhou, Urumqi and other large cities in China all have direct trains to Chengdu.
Tourists can take bus to the scenic area through the Chuanzhusi-Jiuzhaigou Highway from Chengdu. It is probably most advisable to take a bus heading for Songpan or Chengdu for the 92 km journey south to the Chuanzhusi Temple and then get on the bus for Pingwu which will carry you the remaining 41 kilometers east to the Huanglong Temple. Jiuzhaigou Valley and Huanglong is also accessible by several public road lines from Leshan, Mianyang, Guangyuan, Lanzhou etc.
