10:30–11:30 The Mechanics of Time at the Drum Tower: Disembark for an intensive architectural and acoustic study of the Drum Tower. Learn about the engineering behind ancient timber tower support systems and decipher old Chinese timekeeping rules like "Shichen" and "Gengdi". Includes a 15-minute interactive QA session and sketching window.
11:30–12:00 Take Metro Line 8 from Shichahai Station back to Qianmen using their custom Beijing Pass smart cards. Walk to the Quanjude Qianmen Flagship “Taste & Vision” Immersive Digital Dining Hall.

13:30–15:00 The Acoustics of Heaven at the Divine Music Administration: Enter the Temple of Heaven. Attend an exclusive youth lecture and live performance of ancient court ritual music at the historic Shenleshu. Students listen to ancient bells, stone chimes, and zithers; learn about the traditional Chinese “Eight Tones” (Ba Yin) material classification system; and compare Eastern and Western classical tuning.
15:00–17:00 Cloisonné Enamel Masterclass: Take Metro Line 5 to the Cloisonné Art Museum of China. After exploring the royal gallery, students enter the studio workshop. Guided by a certified Master Craftsman, students engage in a hands-on wire-pinching or enamel-coloring lab, firing and polishing their own custom Cloisonné metal plate to take home as an academic keepsake.



Day 3: Beijing

09:10–12:00 Decoding the Forbidden City: A comprehensive, expert-guided exploration of the Palace Museum. Focus on the spatial geometry of how the Central Axis anchors the palace layout. Investigate the Halls of Supreme Harmony, Central Harmony, and Preserving Harmony to map imperial hierarchies, timber bracketing (Dougong), roof-top guardian creatures, and administrative insignias.



12:00–13:00 Exit via the Gate of Divine Prowess; transfer via transit to the elegant Hetang Dian courtyard restaurant for a structured group lunch.

08:40–11:00 Archaeological Chronologies at the National Museum: A targeted student expedition through the permanent “Ancient China” galleries. Guided by bilingual history mentors, students analyze technological transitions from Paleolithic stone tools to complex Shang Dynasty bronzes, Tang ceramics, and Ming/Qing artistic expressions, building a coherent timeline of Chinese material culture.

11:20–12:50 Group lunch at the Haishun Restaurant (Siji Minfu Forbidden City Complex).
12:50–13:30 Ride Metro Line 5 to the historic Guozijian station.
13:30–15:30 Confucian Philosophy at the Imperial Academy: Explore the Confucius Temple and Guozijian Museum. Examine the traditional administrative spaces of China’s highest historical institution of learning and imperial examination management. Students analyze how Confucian philosophy shaped administrative governance and the civil service system across the Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties.

14:00–15:30 Scenic coach transfer to the northwest imperial plain.
15:30–17:00 Landscape Hydrology at the Summer Palace: Deep field study of the Summer Palace. Students investigate how Qing Dynasty engineers modified natural waters to create Kunming Lake, balancing aesthetic garden landscapes with flood mitigation and water supplies for the old capital.
17:00–17:30 Coach transfer to the Olympic Green.
17:30–18:00 Engineering Modernity at the Bird’s Nest & Water Cube: An outdoor architectural photography and mapping session in front of the National Stadium (Bird’s Nest) and National Aquatics Center (Water Cube).
